Read about a new poetry collection published by MA Creative Writing student Wendy Allen.
Oxford Brookes Creative Writing MA student Wendy Allen has successfully had her debut poetry collection, The Tricolore Textbook, published by Broken Sleep, as part of the Legitimate Snack series. Wendy Allen explores the topics of feminism and female sexual liberation through her poetry and says that “many of my poems liken the content of my menstrual cup to the perfect shade of lipstick”.
As well as The Tricolore Textbook, which quickly sold out, she also has recently had poems published in @DamnationLit. She has also taken part in Alice Hiller’s Voicing our Silences video series with the poet Serge Neptune, and used it to discuss the reasons why writing poetry about female orgasm and masturbation is so important.
Wendy states that she is “loving” her time here at Brookes, and that “the support from Brookes Poetry Centre has been amazing”.

We pass on our congratulations to Wendy and wish her success in future publications!
